Gaatha

In the latest movie of National award winner cum cinematographer Shaji N. Karun, mollywood superstar Mohanlal and bollywood actress Juhi Chawla will play the lead roles. The upcoming film is titled as 'Gaatha'. Shaji N. Karun's last film with Mohanlal was Vaanaprastham which had won applouse from many film critics.

Juhi Chawla was finalized for the role after considering many faces including Madhuri Dixit and Jaya Bachchan. The film will commence in June in Ladakh. Juhi Chawla debuted in Malayalam a decade ago in Fazil superhit malayalam movie Harikrishnana's. Though the actors have shared screen earlier, it was different for HariKrishnana's as, they both have become big stars by then. The movie featured Mammootty and Mohanlal and made much controversy due to double climax which tried to satisfy the fans of both stars. It was in the year 1998. A grand reunion between the two big 'M's of mollywood film industry was seen last year in the film Twenty Twenty.

Gaatha a musical entertainer is based on a short story called Kadal written by T. Padmanabhan and will have locations in Chennai and Vienna apart from Ladakh. The director hinted that the film will feature many foreign technicians.

Theatres are currently playing Alexander the Great and Janakan. Mohanlal has almost completed shooting for the film Shikar and his upcoming projects are Kandahar, Casanova and China Town.

Cousins

Gopan Chennithala and Bhagyachitra Films have announced their forthcoming Malayalam new movie "Cousins" directed by Lal Jose. The film will star popular heroes Mohanlal and Prithviraj together for the first time with current top heroines Parvathy, Gopika and Vimalaa Raman. Cousins hits the floor in early 2010.

Seven

Malayalam super star and four-time National Award winner Mohanlal has been cast opposite Priyanka Chopra in the film “Seven” which is being made by Vishal Bhardwaj.

In this film Pritanka plays the role of a wife married to seven husbands. Mohanlal is one of them. The filmmaker is finalizing other actors to play the roles of the remaining six husbands.

In Mahabharatha, Draupathi had five Pandava brothers as her husbands. The very fact that Vishal Bhardwaj titled his film as “Seven” and announced that the heroine will have seven husbands is causing lot of interest in film circles.

Christian Brothers

Christian Brothers made more news than any other recent film the moment the project was announced.

A first it was the budget which is expected to go beyond the Rs 3.5 crore limit decided by the producers' association.

Then came the controversy involving Thilakan, who was supposed to do a role in the Malayalam movie. The actor blamed a certain superstar for his ouster from the film which is directed by Joshiy.

Joshiy's last film Twenty 20 with Siby-Udayan was a blockbuster.

Even the star cast caused quite a stir as it boasts of stars like Mohanlal, Dileep, Suresh Gopi [ Images ], Sarath Kumar, Kavya Madhavan [ Images ], Kaniha, Lakshmi Gopalaswamy, Suresh Krishna, Sai Kumar and Biju Menon among others.

Mohanlal and Dileep play brothers Christie and Joji respectively. Kaniha and Lakshmi Gopalaswamy play their sisters. The storyline goes through many interesting twists and turns, according to scriptwriter duo Siby K Thomas and Udayakrishnan.

Mohanlal is a high profile police informer, a key figure in Mumbai [ Images ]. But his family thinks he is a goonda. Dileep had joined a seminary to become a priest but opts out after he falls in love with a girl. Now, things take some interesting turns.

The shooting of Christian Brothers currently underway in Kochi. Mohanlal has already started shooting for the film.

Anil Nair is the cinematographer and Deepak Dev the music director. The film is produced jointly by Varnachitra and AVA Productions.

Talkies

Mohanlal was exceptional in playing the father and son character in movie like Raavanaprabhu, Uncle Bun and Udayon. Now he is all set to play another double role in his latest movie titled "Talkies". In talkies Mohanlal will appear as Raveendran Nair and also as his father, a Singapore return, who is running a movie house named Kamala Talkies located in a rural premise of a village named Ramanthuruthu.
Shajoon Kariyal will be directing Talkies and S Suresh Babu will script this movie. The shooting of this movie will start by the end of the next month.

Yodha 2

Yodha was a superhit malayalam movie which was made way back in 1992 under the direction of Santhosh Sivan which features superstar Mohanlal  and Jagathy Sreekumar in pivotal roles and shot in the picturesque locations of Nepal is ready for a second homecoming. Yodha 2 is in the anvil and plans are being made to make a sequel at the earliest.

Santhosh Sivan is planning to come back to the Malayalam film industry through this sequel. Yodha was not only a blockbuster success but also a movie which was novel in many ways. As per the sources Mohanlal has already allocated the dates for this movie.

As per the story part, the sequel will start off from where the prequel had ended. Puneet Issar, who had essayed the villain’s roles will be seen in the sequel also. This big budgest movie is expected to rope in Lakshmi Rai as the heroine as against Urvashi and Madhubala who had played the heroines in Yodha . Harris Jayraj would score the music for the sequel and Santhosh Sivan would weild the camera. The rocking Jagathy-Mohanlal team is back and lets wait for it.

The world action hero Jackie Chan plays a “Cameo” role in this film with an astounding action sequence.The movie tells the story of freedom fighter Nairsan who fought against British colonialism in Japan. Jackie Chan will be seen fighting along with Nairsan in his fight against colonialism.Mohanlal has alloted a total of 125 days for the movie.Nairsan will have a world-wide release.Jackie Chan joined for a 15 day shoot starting from September 1st.

In Asia the movie will be in Japanese and in other countries it will be dubbed in English.In this story Nairsan's real name is Ayyappan Pilla Madhavan Nair.His father was a tamil Brahmin and mother was malayali. He was born and did his schoolig in Trivandrum.During school days Nairsan and his friends fought against the British rule in India.So he was forced to leave India to Japan and continued the fight against British rule from there.

Nairsan is a Big budget film which is estimated around 60 Cr.Mohanlal got 4crore by signing this project. A.R Rahman is doing the music for the film.
